Datong volcano is located 265 km west of Beijing, and 3 km NE of Datong City at Xigelaoshan. The volcano consists of six cones in the Sanggan River Valley. The volcano covers 60 sq km and the main cones are: Heishan (1,422 m), Jinshan (1,368 m), Langwoshan (1,028 m), Gelaoshan (1,276 m).

Location
Datong volcano cluster lies in north-east of Datong county is the most typical volcano distributing area in mainland and it is the rare natural heritage in east Asia continent it began from middle Pleistocene to late Pleistocene.

Introduction
It means it occurred during 300 thousands years from 400 thousand years to 100 thousand yeas ago. There are more than 30 volcano piles distribute 1000-1500m above sea level, of which, the shape perfect Golden Mountain like Fuji mountain with 1429.8 m above sea level is the best tour scene. Haotian temple located in the peak of Haotian volcano pile is prior to Huangyan temple. It was destroyed during "culture revolution" and reconstructed in 1990. It is as amous as Datong Huayan temple. In addition, there is Baideng Mountain in which occurred famous battle "Baideng Battle" and Yvjia Mountain to which the Queen mother Cixi escaped from Beijing. The recent developed one day tour "Mountain (volcano), water (Cetian reservoir), flower (yellow Lily) and bird (ostrich) "attract much tourism.
